Residential Assistance Program Design

Development of the Residential Assistance Program

The Town contracted the Center for Neighborhood Technology for a "RainReady" study in 2020, recommending a new assistance program. Following this, Carrboro’s Comprehensive Plan (Carrboro Connects) emphasized green stormwater infrastructure and incentives for income-eligible residents. A pilot program in 2023 provided tailored program design recommendations based on residential site assessments.

On January 9, 2024, the Town Council reviewed the proposed residential program, and on February 27, 2024, increased the Equivalent Residential Unit fee from $90 to $100 annually to fund it.
