UPDATE (7:30 am Friday) - All streets were reopened at 5:15 a.m. Friday. The accident occurred after a delivery truck leaving a business snagged a cable line and pulled down a power pole. Lines fell on several cars parked along the street.

CARRBORO, NC -- 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1 -- The Carrboro Police Department is shutting down a major portion of downtown Carrboro streets following an accident causing the downing of several power lines. This closure will be in place for an estimated several hours starting at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 1.
The area being closed temporarily to traffic in Carrboro includes:
- W. Main Street and Jones Ferry Road (location of downed lines at intersection)
- Jones Ferry Road at Laurel Avenue
- W. Main Street traveling west from N. Greensboro Street
- from Carrboro Town Hall to Communityworx from W. Main Street to the intersection of N. Greensboro Street
