The Town of Carrboro recognizes the benefits and interest of having special events within the Carrboro Community. A process has been established for Carrboro citizens and local businesses to propose or inform the Town of Carrboro of programming ideas or intent to hold an event.

The COMMUNITY EVENT GUIDE (pdf.) provides directions on hosting both public and private events in the Town of Carrboro. It includes specific information on renting public facilities, applying for street event permits, and requesting town sponsorship for public events.

Those that have a desire to request support from the Town of Carrboro with their ideas can complete a Requested Town-Sponsored Event Interest Form (docx). Submitted forms will be reviewed by a Town of Carrboro Special Events Committee. The decision for the Town to become a sponsoring partner will be based on some established criteria.

The Community Event Guide and the Requested Town-Sponsored Event Interest Form discussed in detail the steps required for a proposal to be review, as well as the criteria used for the review of the proposal.

All questions pertaining to this process may be directed to the Carrboro Recreation and Parks Department at 919-918-7364 or RecParks@townofcarrboro.org.

"The Town of Carrboro has made an ongoing commitment to bicycle facility planning since the mid-1970s. Over the past 25 years, the town has utilized its bonding authority to develop bike lanes and bike paths, has worked cooperatively to include bike lanes in all state road improvement projects, and has amended its street standards to include bike lanes as a requirement on all collector roads. In recognition of these accomplishments, Carrboro was recently recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists."
